Springdale Public Schools Athletics began in 1909-10 with belief that Athletics would be a means to an end for student fulfillment. Five sports were offered for students who did satisfactory school work. The girls’ basketball team won the “Silver Cup” and our District’s 1st State Championship in 1910.
Since then, Springdale has grown from a small agricultural town in the Ozarks of 2,000 to over 80,000 residents. The Springdale School District has grown from 1 school to 18 elementary, 4 middle schools, 4 junior highs and 2 high schools. As the Springdale School District continues to grow and educate nearly 29,000 students each year, plans for expansion also continue.
On the playing field, Springdale’s Athletic Department manages over 185 teams and coaches over 4,000 Student-Athletes. Each team gives back to our city through many outstanding community service projects directed by our dedicated coaching staff.
In the fall of 2011, members of the Springdale community met and began the process of creating the Springdale Athletic Foundation (SAF). The purpose of the SAF is to enhance the quality of and interest in Springdale Public Schools Athletics.
The Springdale Athletic Foundation (AF) is a 501c-3 charitable, tax-exempt organization. It is governed by a Board of Directors devoted to enhancing our Student-Athletes’ opportunities to succeed both on the field and in the classroom.
